The Hot List :: T-shirts for boys & girls

Did you know that the tee shirt dates back to Ancient Egypt? Did you know that during the 1880s in England it was referred to as a vest, and was an undergarment? There are some schools of thought that the ’T’ in tee shirt stands for "training" (shirt), as they were used in the military. How about the fact that the tee shirt can also be spelled T shirt or t-shirt, and is sometimes called a ringer?

John Wayne, Marlon Brando, James Dean and Sharon Stone wore tee shirts on TV. If anything, Brando and Dean made the tee a masculine iconic item, and Sharon showed the world that you could dress up a simple black tee from the Gap with a thousand dollar skirt and be chic on Oscar night.

Tees are a wardrobe staple. Whether they feature a bold graphic, or are simply fitted in a solid color, you’ll find them in everyone’s dresser.

Here are a few of the hottest tees for summer and beyond; they’re all cool, comfy, and just plain fun to wear...

...be part of the art

And tees can be a work of art; take a look at this one. It can only be found at Nancy & Co stores.

The tee is designed by Oramomi; an emerging designer who loves to play with color and ideas. It’s called the "Wolf Heart Long Sleeve tee" ($135). It’s crafted from tissue thin cotton and intricate dye work. The dying process is called "dye sublimated art."

"The Wolf Heart" is part of their limited edition summer collection of long and short sleeve tees. Each Oramomi tee shirt makes a strong visual statement.
You can find Oramomi and other emerging designers at the Nancy & Co. Boutiques; 1178 Lexington Avenue, Mahattan; 66 Newtown Lane, East Hampton; 83 Main Street, Southampton.
